LWIC is placed as a continuous system, so slope and drainage are built in during installation. Tapered insulation relies on multiple layers of board, which increases layout complexity and can lead to inconsistencies and rework in the field.

Installation is typically performed as a two-step process. The initial phase consists of placing the slurry and installing the insulation board, followed by the top pour once the slurry has sufficiently set.

Cure time varies depending on the specific system; however, roofing operations can generally proceed once the material has achieved the required strength and dryness, typically within 48 to 72 hours.

No. On most reroof projects, only the membrane is removed. The LWIC layer remains in place, reducing demolition, exposure, and disruption to the building.

The LWIC layer does not require maintenance. Ongoing maintenance is limited to the roofing membrane above it.

LWIC can be cut and removed in specific areas for new penetrations or equipment. The system can then be patched and restored as part of the roofing scope.

LWIC remains in place during future reroofing cycles. Only the membrane is removed and replaced, which reduces labor, material waste, and disruption compared to systems that require full removal.
